Rancho El Cajon was sold to Isaac Lankershim August 12 1868. They say he paid about $36,595 for this land. The Pedrorena family had trouble selling this land as the country now belongs to United States and the United States did not honor Mexican land grants.

The Pedrorena family lived in Old Town, San Diego and only sold part of their ranch to Lankershim. Mr. Lankershim bought the part the city of El Cajon is now in. He bought this land from the four Pedrorena children.
