Fallback Festival
November 4, 2007
Children's Historic Street Faire
The Fallback Festival is a fun family event that showcases
the importance of the history of the San Diego area by "falling back" in time.
Events include a Wild West show, Puppet Shows, Panning for Gold, and an Archaeological Dig!

The Fallback Festival will be held in the Gaslamp Quarter
on Sunday, November 4, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
between the Main Gate at 5th Avenue and Island Avenue.
Tickets are $5.00 per person. Children 2 and under are free.

Cookin' Up History
November 15, 2007
The El Cajon Historical Society has once again teamed up with Grossmont Adult School to offer
Cookin' Up History: a class that teaches families about the history of El Cajon
as they cook and eat historic recipes. This class was first offered last year and was a great success!
Avocado Elementary School's third grade classes even booked their own exclusive date last Spring.
Families who took the classes asked for more.

If your family would like to experience a little bit of El Cajon History
and enjoy cooking together with other families,
please call now to register (619) 401-4120.
The class will be offered on Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 5:15 P.M. to 8:15 P.M.
at Helix Adult Center, Room 500. The cost is $3.00 per family.
In addition, you will notified, prior to class, of the ingredients you'll need to bring.

If you're interested in booking a separate date for your classroom or school, you must have at least 16 adults willing to attend. Please contact Tammy Goodwater if you would like to book your own event.

Potluck Dinner and Auction
November 30, 2007
The El Cajon Historical Society and the Friends of the El Cajon Library will be partnering up
for the annual potluck dinner and auction. Friends of the El Cajon Library will be providing
set up for the event, main dishes, punch, pricing of auction items
and will also be coordinating the auction event itself.
Historical society participants are asked to bring a side dish and an item for auction.
Help with clean up after the event is also needed.

Newspapers Available On-line
end of 2007/early 2008
The Historical Society Board is in the process of transferring the microfilm of all
Daily Californian
and El Cajon Valley News newspapers from late 1880s through the 1980s into web format.
These will be posted on the web site soon and will initially be available to the public at no charge.
As more become available, fees may apply.
We would to thank Mr. Bob Carroll and Carmel Business Systems for
graciously providing this service to the historical society!
